(DUBUQUE) – The DSO continues its element themed Classics Series, “on air”, November 17 & 18 at Five Flags Theater, downtown Dubuque.
“This program celebrates the element of AIR by fittingly giving the spotlight to our woodwind and brass sections,” states Music Director and Conductor William Intriligator. “I’ve programmed music from several different centuries of composers from the 16 to the 20th century. Woodwind serenades and nocturnes evoke the outdoors and night sky, we also evoke the spirits in the air with a short beautiful prayer to angels, written by composer Franz Liszt. A piece on the program will be performed alongside “air’ themed photos by local photographers and brass and percussion are featured in powerful works by Wagner and Holst. It will be thrilling!”
Violinist YooJin Jang finishes the DSO’s exploration of Vivaldi’s Four Seasons, performing “Autumn” and “Winter” with the strings of the orchestra. Applauded by The Strad for her “fiery virtuosity” and “consummate performances, Jang has been performing with top Korean orchestras since the age of nine.
