Pursuit of the Podium Candidates Raise Over $26,000 for Dubuque Symphony Orchestra
(DUBUQUE) – The Dubuque Symphony Orchestra (DSO) is excited to announce that the 2017 Pursuit of the Podium winner is Harriet Heitzman! Heitzman is a dedicated community volunteer and has been an avid supporter of the DSO since its very beginnings.
From February 1 to April 24, five local celebrities raised money on behalf of the DSO. Heitzman raised the most funds and, as a result, will take Maestro Intriligator’s place on the podium to conduct one selection at the free Summer Melodies concert which will be held at the Dubuque Arboretum at 6:30 pm, June 25, 2017.
This year’s Pursuit of the Podium contestants also included Dr. Teresa “Terry” Eckhart – Physician at Dubuque Obstetrics & Gynecology; Robert “General Bob” Felderman – Photographer, realtor/appraiser, pilot, and retired Army general; Lynn H. “Tut” Fuller – Market President at Dubuque Bank & Trust; and Gary Olsen – Artist. Together the group raised $26,424 for the symphony!
“The Dubuque community has really embraced Pursuit of the Podium,” said Director of Development, Jean Tucker. “Since this fundraising concept was first introduced in 2013, a total of nineteen volunteers have raised in excess of $100,000. I continue to be amazed at the enthusiasm, dedication and creativity of our aspiring conductors. It’s been an absolute joy working with each and every one of them. In my mind, they are all winners.”
Funds generated from Pursuit of the Podium will support the DSO’s overall mission, which is to engage the tri-state community and enrich its quality of life through live musical performances and educational programs. Now in its 58th season, the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra serves approximately 20,000 tri-state area residents each year and are proud to present world-class musical experiences for the entire community to enjoy.
