Dubuque Symphony Orchestra Single Tickets on Sale Monday, August 21
(DUBUQUE) – Single tickets to the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra’s 2017-18 Classics, Holiday and Family Concerts will be available to the public beginning Monday, August 21. These concerts will be held at Five Flags Theater in downtown Dubuque: Season Opener: Beethoven’s 5th, October 14-15, 2017; Grieg & Stravinsky: Classics in New Bottles, November 11-12, 2017; A Confession of the Soul – Sibelius 2, February 24-25, 2018; Star Crossed Lovers, March 24-25, 2018; the fully staged musical West Side Story, April 13-15, 2018; Holiday Concerts, December 2-3, 2017 and return of our Spring Family Concert, March 24, 2018 – featuring cinematic and classical favorites for all ages with post concert activities.
This year’s season, entitled be moved, features lively dance suites sprinkled throughout the Classics performances. The season culminates with a fully staged production of the musical West Side Story. “I am thrilled to honor the centennial of Leonard Bernstein’s birth with West Side Story,” notes Music Director and Conductor, William Intriligator. “This will be an extraordinary collaboration between our orchestra, the Heartland Ballet, and talented singers who have grown up in the Dubuque area and have moved on to careers in Broadway - it’s a not-to-be missed event!”
Outstanding guest artists, actors and vocalists join the orchestra, including Manny Laureano, Principal Trumpet of the Minnesota Orchestra. This season also features talent from within the orchestra, including Principal Clarinetist Corey Mackey, Concertmaster Eleanor Bartsch, and the return of long-time DSO Concertmaster Caroline Curtis. Some of the world’s most beloved symphonies will be performed including Beethoven’s Fifth, as well as new works. “I am excited that the orchestra will present world premieres by native composers Michael Gilbertson and Rocky Reuter,” said Intriligator. “Each piece has been especially written for the DSO.”
Tickets to individual concerts will be available at the Five Flags Center box office which is open Monday-Friday Noon–5pm until Labor Day and 10am-5pm Monday-Friday starting Tuesday, September 5th..
