In the fall of 2007, the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra launched its Making a Difference campaign for the sole purpose of increasing the symphony’s endowment. While the campaign came to a successful conclusion five years later, donors can still contribute to the endowment by choosing from among the following options:
The Legacy Fund follows a traditional endowment model whereby the donor's gift remains endowed in perpetuity. Only the earnings from the Legacy Fund are available for operational support.
The Opportunity Fund consists of donor gifts that are set aside by the symphony Board of Directors to fund special opportunities. These board-restricted funds plus earnings can then be used for operational support and extraordinary projects at the discretion of the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra Board.
Gifts in support of the Legacy Fund or the Opportunity Fund can be sent directly to the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra. A partnership has also been established with the Community Foundation of Greater Dubuque, who can accept gifts on our behalf. Donors who wish to support the Dubuque Symphony Orchestra’s permanently endowed fund at the Community Foundation may qualify for Endow Iowa tax credits.
