Following a stirring brass fanfare and Barber's gorgeous Adagio, the young musicians from the Dubuque Youth Symphony Orchestra join the professional musicians of the DSO in Tchaikovsky's Romeo & Juliet. Shostakovich's Fifth Symphony will provide a rousing finish to the Classics Season.

Dmitri Shostakovich

Shostakovch later claimed the work was in reality a criticism of Stalin's communist system, and the happy ending is somehow forced.
