Synopsis

A young geisha marries an American sailor in a ceremony she takes more seriously than he. Disowned by her family, she refuses to believe Lt. Pinkerton has abandoned her.

Three year's later when he returns, she discovers his new wife. Heartbroken, Cio-Cio-San agrees to give up her child and after sending everyone away stabs herself choosing to die with honor rather than live in disgrace.
