Serenade for Strings
In Tchaikovksy's own words "...I wrote from compulsion. This is a piece from the heart..." The Serenade for Strings is charming and graceful throughout. Tchaikovsky's creativity clearly demonstrates the variety of sounds capable by a string ensemble.

Violin Concerto No. 5
Selected by Symphony magazine as an emerging artist to watch, Elena Urioste has been hailed by critics and audiences alike. In her first appearance with the Dubuque Symphony she will perform Mozart's Violin Concerto No. 5.  The leading Mozart scholar of his generation, A. Hyatt King wrote that this is not only the best of Mozart’s concertos for violin “but has no rival throughout the second half of the 18th century.”

Critical Acclaim
"The gifted young violinist, Elena Urioste, in her Chicago Symphony Orchestra debut, charmed the audience with her lyrical sensitivity..."
 — John von Rhein, Chicago Tribune

"From the hushed rustle of her opening bars, the 23-year old violinist played with inward delicacy and expressive poise..."
— Lawrence A. Johnson, Chicago Classical Review
