Hometown: Chandler, AZ
Education: BM Northern Arizona University, MM University of Minnesota, DMA Cincinnati Conservatory of Music
My earliest musical memory: My grandmother buying me a keyboard and figuring out TV commercial jingles.
I knew I would make a career in music when: I played Pines of Rome in High School and got the bug.
Favorite thing about performing music: Doing what I love for an appreciative audience. Anything can happen in a live performance. You get into the music and the audience can see and hear that you love what you are doing and the energy in the room builds with the music.
Most memorable performance with the DSO: Performing the Mozart Clarinet Concerto in 2013.
Favorite recording: Right now, Minnesota Orchestra performing Beethoven 8.
Favorite composer and/or period: Right now, I like Russian sonorities and melodies. It changes though.
Advice for young musicians: Work harder than everyone one else. Find someone who does what you want to do and study with them. Listen to live music!
A special story about my instrument: When I was in the 5th grade and I asked my grandfather what I should play, he said the clarinet because that's what he played when he was younger. To this day, he's my biggest fan.
Other instruments I play: Guitar, bass, and saxophone.
Other than performing music, I've always thought it might be fun to: build custom furniture.
One thing people don’t know about me: I do woodworking in my spare time.
On my iPod or in my CD player:Alanis Morissette, and I am not afraid to admit it...
