First season with the DSO: 2005
Hometown: Minot, ND
Education: BA in Music Performance, English, and Humanities from Minot State University, MA in Viola Performance from The University of Iowa, DMA in Viola Performance and Pedagogy from University of Iowa
I knew I would make a career in music when: I played for a production of the Nutcracker ballet with a professional ballet company when I was 14 years old. I was enamored with the glamour and drama within the production.
Favorite recording: This changes all the time, but right now I’m in love with Roberto Diaz’ recording of the Vieuxtemps Elegy for viola. His sound is the perfect viola sound.
Favorite composer: I have always loved Russian music from Romantic to Modern. My favorite composer is Shostakovich.
Other than performing music, I’ve always thought it might be fun to be a: Agriculture Scientist.....hey, I grew up in North Dakota, ok?
One thing people don’t know about me: I’m a whiz at the video game Rock Band!
